July 27, 2015 - On the Passing of Raja
27 July, 2015
While offering deep heartfelt condolences to the family of Raja Dahir Bhanbharo, the Sindhi Foundation strongly condemns his death while in the custody of Pakistan’s security forces and their intelligence agencies. The Sindhi Foundation is appealing to the international community, the US government, and human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, to help bring all those responsible for Mr. Bhanbharo’s extrajudicial murder, as well as other cases in Sindh and Pakistan, to justice.
Raja Dhahir Bhanbharo, was a Sindhi nationalist activist who was taken by Pakistan Rangers and other security agencies on June 4, 2015 during a raid on his village in the Sindh province of Pakistan. His body has recently been discovered hundreds of miles from his house, mutilated, and then buried; labeled as ‘unclaimed’ by local police. Since his disappearance on June 4, family and friends received no information until the discovery of his body on July 25, 2015.
Mr. Bhanbharo was one of many Sindhi nationalists and political dissidents in Pakistan who have been victim to brutal enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in the past few years. With this in mind, the Sindhi Foundation condemns the actions of the Pakistani Rangers and all parties involved with Mr. Bhanbharo’s enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killing. This is a trend that is wholly unacceptable to us as human beings.
On behalf of the Sindhi Foundation we will continue to take up these human rights issues to all levels of government and civil society until justice is served in cases of brutal enforced disappearances and later deaths by torture and shooting that of Raja Dahir Bhambhro and all others missing persons of Sindh, Pakistan.
